Psychiatry
What Goes in Your Pockets:
Stethoscope, patient list/scutsheet, notes, sample psych H&P, PDA/phone with drug reference
What to Study:
- Blueprints Psychiatry – This is the review book students recommend most for studying for the shelf exam.
- Psychiatry Pretest – This is an excellent resource. Go through it once.
- Lange Q&A: Psychiatry is also recommended by students as a great resource to help you study.
Other Advice:
- Learn the components of the psych H&P well. This will allow you to perform more consistent examinations of your patients and will also help you study for your shelf. An example H&P template is available at medfools.com.
- If you can, try to spend some time in the psych ER. You will learn a lot and see some cases you wouldn’t see elsewhere.
